Author’s Studio with Brittany Severn

Who says you can’t meet a great author while drinking and tweeting? That is how Brittany Severn and I met. We have since become friends on Instagram liking each other’s pictures. Brittany is an amazing author, so of course I had to have her stop by the Author’s Studio.

 HERE’S A LITTLE ABOUT BRITTANY

Brittany Severn is an indie YA novelist, ARMY brat, beach walker, hug giver, and dog lover. Born in Kansas on an ARMY base, she then moved to California, Texas, Germany and Alabama before she was 8. She kind of fell into writing. Until she was 19, writing was a hobby. Before the world of writing enveloped her, she was going to work for the FBI. Yep, the girl was going to be on the FBI’s CyberCrime Unit. To Brittany, writing is an escape
but it’s also a way to have control. In writing, you have total control over your characters. What they do, what they say; it can be very therapeutic. Writing has gotten her through some dark times, and she owes it a lot.

Author’s Studio with London Cole

I’ve had a great opportunity to meet a lot of great authors on Twitter and London is one of them. We’ve become good friends who love to disagree. Sometimes I feel like he’s an annoying younger brother. With that said I thought you could all get to know the inner workings of London Cole in the Author’s Studio.

Image of London Cole

HERE’S A LITTLE ABOUT LONDON

London Cole is a YA Paranormal author living in East Texas, US. When he’s not writing or outlining he can be found doing laps in his pool, playing a rock concert, or any of a variety of outdoor extreme sports. London’s debut WHISPER WALKER is a Dystopian Paranormal based on the island he was raised on, Whidbey Island. Only, it’s the island eighty years after the Third World War, and everything is a lot different…and a lot meaner.

And Now Time For The

author's studio

1.What is your favorite word?

Facetious or Ominous. Can’t decide between the two. “Facetious” because I tend to be quite facetious and love to throw the word at other people, who often don’t know what it means. “Ominous” because it tastes good. Yes, words can taste good.

2. What is your least favorite word?

Irregardless. MS Word doesn’t even think it’s a word! But sadly, it is a word recognized by Miriam-Webster. It sounds awful, it tastes worse, and technically its own roots are redundant and superfluous.

3. What turns you on?

Uh… Hmm, sarcasm and witty banter. Being able to have a verbal sparring match with someone without them taking anything personally. Guitars. I collect guitars as my wallet allows (yes I also play them). On a physical note, huge fan of jean shorts, white spaghetti strap tank tops and low top Chucky T’s.

4. What turns you off?

Eighties and Nineties clothing styles. Pop music.

5. What sound do you love?

This is another challenging question. The sound of bacon frying or coffee splashing into a cup.

6. What sound do you hate?

There are so many of them––most anything dragging across a chalk board or sudden jarring noises.

7. What is your favorite curse word?

Dumbass. It may not exactly be a curse word, but it’s so much fun to say. Just think about the origins of the word! Who was so riled at someone that their vocabulary was limited to lumping together two words that weren’t supposed to go together. “Dumb” and “Ass.” It pretty funny to imagine.

8. What profession other than yours would you like to attempt?

Full-Time musician. I’ve gotten pretty close to it three different times in my life, but it’s always fallen through at the last second. Yes, a girl was the reason the first time.

9. What profession would you not like to do?

Anything on Dirty Jobs, really. Hell, I’ve done some of them anyway and have no desire to do any more.

10. Tells us something no one knows about you?

Dear God. Everyone always asks this and I’m running out of things to say. Hehe. Hmm, I’m a bit of a lumberjack. I drop (dead) trees all summer and part of the fall for everything from firewood to milling into lumber for furniture and building.

Author’s Studio with Emma Meade

It’s time for another segment of the Author’s Studio. Today I’m excited to have Emma Meade stop by all the way from Ireland. She is an incredible writer, who can spark every emotion in you in just a couple of words. Emma has become an author who I really look up to and inspires me in so many ways. Now it’s your turn to get to know Emma.

EmmaMeade

HERE’S A LITTLE ABOUT EMMA

“My name’s Emma Meade.  I live in rainy Ireland, and I’m currently swimming the murky depths of self-publishing versus traditional publishing. I love vampires, slayers, witches, ghosts, aliens & shadow men (or at least the youngest of the Shadow Men), and regular people who live extraordinary lives (think Slayerettes and you’re on the right track). Growing up, L.J. Smith was one of my favourite authors. To this day I adore her trilogy The Forbidden Game.  I have lost count of the number of times I’ve read Stephen King’s epic novel, The Stand.  I also love anything written by Irish legend Marian Keyes. Books, DVDS & TV show boxsets take up lots of space in my home, and I collect all thePoint Horror books I can get my hands on.  I am not ashamed to admit that Dirty Dancing and Twilight make my top ten movie list :) but I would like to point out thatThe Last of the MohicansReality BitesDead Poets SocietyStand by Me and The Goonies are in there too.”

And Now it’s Time for:

author's studio

1.What is your favorite word?

Okay, tough one. I’ll go with Rivendell. It rolls off the tongue easily and brings to mind a beautiful landscape.

2. What is your least favorite word?

Carnage and carcass are coming to mind.

3. What turns you on?

An attractive smile, the smell of aftershave like Hugo Boss, candlelight 🙂

 4. What turns you off?

People who say the F word in every other sentence

 5. What sound do you love?

Wind chimes, my dad’s voice, my nieces’ laughter.

 6. What sound do you hate?

Nails scraping on a chalkboard

7. What is your favorite curse word?

Shite – not really a curse word.

8. What profession other than yours would you like to attempt?

Acting

9. What profession would you not like to do?

High powered executive or anything very business related. I don’t like wearing suits and would despise being stuck in an office ten hours a day six days a week.

10. Tell us something no one knows about you?

Drawing a blank here. My first serious crush was on the character Krycek from The X-Files, when he went bad, of course. The lovely Nicholas Lea played him. I’d say not many people know that.

Author’s Studio with Danielle Sibarium

I’m back with another segment of the Author’s Studio. This week I’m so excited because I get to bring you not only a really good friend of mine, but also one of my favorite authors. Her latest book Waves of Love kept me glued to my iPad, even when I knew I had to get to bed or I would not be able to function the next day. It was totally worth it. It’s been almost a week since I finished the book and I’m still thinking about it. Yes I’m obsessed with the Heart Waves Series. Anyway let me stop now, because trust me I go on and on. So now get to know Danielle a little better.

danielle

HERE’S A LITTLE ABOUT DANIELLE

Danielle Sibarium grew up as an only child of divorced parents in Brooklyn, New York. Her imagination was developed at an early age. Surrounded by stuffed animals and imaginary friends, she transported herself into a fantasy world full of magic and wonder. Books were the gateway between her play world and reality. On any given summer afternoon she became Snow White sweeping and cooking for the dwarfs, or Cinderella waiting for the prince. In 2007 Danielle collaborated with Charlotte Doreen Small to write songs for her CD More. Danielle wrote the lyrics for Take My Hand, and Goodbye, while Charlotte contributed the melody. In October 2011 Danielle’s debut novel For Always was released. She Has since released Heart Waves and the second book in the Heart Waves series, Breaking Waves. Danielle graduated from Farleigh Dickinson University with honors, and currently lives in New Jersey with her husband and three children.

And Now It’s Time For:

author's studio

1.What is your favorite word?

Mommy. It encompasses everything that’s important in my life.

2. What is your least favorite word?

Can’t- it convinces it’s user that things are not possible. As Jordan in For Always often says There’s nothing you can’t do if you want it bad enough.

3. What turns you on?

Ballroom dancing, especially the Latin dances. OMG when they are done well, there is nothing sexier than a Paso Doble or an Argentine Tango!

4. What turns you off?

True chauvinism is a huge, undeniable, major turnoff.

5. What sound do you love?

The sound of my children laughing when they are letting loose with a true hardy laugh.

6. What sound do you hate?

I equally hate the sound of nails being dragged along a chalk board, and the sound of my little girl shrieking when she doesn’t get her way. I mean it gives me chills. You think something terrible happened, meanwhile, she’s just trying to convince us to give in to her.

7. What is your favorite curse word?

Can I say that on here? Fuc* You know what letter goes there. As a word, it’s wonderful. It can be a noun, a verb, an adjective, adverb, interjection or an exclamation. Do you know any other words that can literally be anything?

8. What profession other than yours would you like to attempt?

I would’ve liked to be doctor. I always loved medicine.

9. What profession would you not like to do?

A dog walker, or dog poop picker-upper. After three kids, I’m done with poop. lol Wouldn’t want to be a nurse for the same reasons.

10. Tells us something no one knows about you?

Very few people know that I  was an extra on the Cosby Show.

Author’s Studio with S.K. Anthony

I’m back with another Author’s Studio. I always love the part of the Actor’s Studio when the host asks the actors questions from the list of Proust Questionnaire. It’s a great way to see who these actors really are without them promoting their latest movie or project. So I thought what better way for readers to get to know an author better too. Every two weeks I will introduce you to an author and together we will probe into their minds. This week I’m excited to talk to S.K. Anthony author of the very thrilling and sexy book Kinetic (The Luminaries).

HERE’S A LITTLE ABOUT S.K.

S. K. Anthony is a writer, a reader and a make-stuff-up-er who lives in New York with her husband and toddler twins. She is a wine connoisseur, which just really means she knows she loves it, and a caffeine addict. When she isn’t busy with her family she finds herself being transported into the world of imagination. Well, either that or running away from spiders…she is convinced they are out to get her!

And Now It’s Time For:

author's studio

1.What is your favorite word?

Love. Because why not? It’s the most hopeful word I can think of.

2. What is your least favorite word?

Hate. It’s too negative.

3. What turns you on?

Laughter. Make me laugh and I’m yours. Well not really, I’m already married and all that o_O

4. What turns you off?

Hate. I know I already used the word, but life is too short for such negativity. Go live, people! Enjoy your loved ones, ignore the “downers” and be happy.

5. What sound do you love?

My kids’ laughter.

6. What sound do you hate?

My alarm clock.

7. What is your favorite curse word?

Well, I don’t have a foul mouth… but I do enjoy the versatility of the F word. You can use it for just about any expression and emotional feeling. If you are happy, sad, angry or doing something awesome, you can always find a good use for the word.

8. What profession other than yours would you like to attempt?

A millionaire. I would like to attempt being a professional millionaire. Can you make that happen? Please? lol

9. What profession would you not like to do?

I don’t think I want to be a septic cleaner. Nope, I’m sure I don’t want to do that.

10. Tells us something no one knows about you?

Hmm, not sure there are things about me that no one knows… but I suppose we can go with what my poor husband and kids know better than anyone: I’m a passionate singer. A terrible one, but passionate. I stand by my belief though, I sing good but their ears are faulty. #truestory lol.
